Suzanne Matsumori, Executive Director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona The social stigma attached to epilepsy and seizure disorders is a major concern in every country, including the United States. Throughout history, various cultures labeled those afflicted with epilepsy as demonic or as violent outcasts. For many people who suffer from epilepsy, the stigma attached to their condition is worse than actually having a seizure. Public education and awareness about epilepsy is critical to start breaking down these social stigmas. Please join us to learn about epilepsy and break down the stigma those with epilepsy face daily. |
